Now the Philistinesgatheredtogether alltheir armiesto Aphek,while the Israeliteswere campingby the springwhichis in Jezreel.
He madehim kingoverGilead,overthe Ashurites,overJezreel,overEphraim,and overBenjamin,even overallIsrael.
When the Philistinesheardthat they had anointedDavidkingoverIsrael,allthe Philistineswentup to seekout David;and when Davidheard[of it], he wentdownto the stronghold.
But the restfledto Aphekinto the city,and the wallfellon 27,000menwho were left.And Ben-hadadfledand cameinto the cityinto an innerchamber.
Now it cameabout afterthesethingsthat Naboththe Jezreelitehada vineyardwhich[was] in Jezreelbesidethe palaceof Ahabkingof Samaria.
"Of Jezebelalsohas the LORDspoken,saying,The dogswill eatJezebelin the districtof Jezreel.'
When Jehucameto Jezreel,Jezebelheard[of it], and she paintedher eyesand adornedher headand lookedout the window.
Therefore they returnedand toldhim. And he said,"Thisis the wordof the LORD,whichHe spokeby His servantElijahthe Tishbite,saying,In the propertyof Jezreelthe dogsshall eatthe fleshof Jezebel;
Gebaland Ammonand Amalek,Philistiawith the inhabitantsof Tyre;
the kingof Aphek,one;the kingof Lasharon,one;
The sonsof Josephsaid,"The hillcountryis not enoughfor us, and allthe Canaaniteswho livein the valleylandhave chariotsof iron,both those whoare in Beth-sheanand its townsand those whoare in the valleyof Jezreel."
Their territorywas to Jezreeland [included] Chesullothand Shunem,
[Included] also [were] Ummah,and Aphekand Rehob;twenty-twocitieswith their villages.
Then allthe Midianitesand the Amalekitesand the sonsof the eastassembledthemselves; and they crossedoverand campedin the valleyof Jezreel.
Then Jerubbaal(that is, Gideon)and allthe peoplewhowere with him, roseearlyand campedbesidethe springof Harod;and the campof Midianwas on the northsideof them by the hillof Morehin the valley.
She brought[it] beforeSauland his servants,and they ate.Then they aroseand wentaway that night.
So the Philistinesgatheredtogether and cameand campedin Shunem;and SaulgatheredallIsraeltogether and they campedin Gilboa.
Thus the wordof Samuelcameto allIsrael.Now Israelwentout to meetthe Philistinesin battleand campedbesideEbenezerwhile the Philistinescampedin Aphek.
