Davidwentout to meetthem, and saidto them, "Ifyou comepeacefullyto me to helpme, my heartshall be unitedwith you; but ifto betrayme to my adversaries,since there is nowrongin my hands,may the Godof our fatherslookon [it] and decide."
I saidin my alarm,"Allmenare liars."
Do not let kindnessand truthleaveyou; Bindthem aroundyour neck,Writethem on the tabletof your heart.

And Naomisaidto her twodaughters-in-law,"Go,returneachof you to her mother'shouse.May the LORDdealkindlywith you as you have dealtwith the deadand with me.
Now it cameabout when he had finishedspeakingto Saul,that the soulof Jonathanwas knitto the soulof David,and Jonathanlovedhim as himself.
Then Jonathanmadea covenantwith Davidbecause he lovedhim as himself.
So Jonathanmadea [covenant] with the houseof David,[saying], "May the LORDrequire[it] at the handsof David'senemies."
Jonathansaid,"Farbe it from you! For ifI should indeedlearnthat evilhas been decidedby my fatherto comeupon you, then would I not tellyou about it?"
So the twoof them madea covenantbeforethe LORD;and Davidstayedat Horeshwhile Jonathanwentto his house.
