At the turnof the year,Ben-hadadmusteredthe Arameansand wentup to Aphekto fightagainstIsrael.
Then it happenedin the spring,at the timewhen kingsgoout [to battle], that DavidsentJoaband his servantswith him and allIsrael,and they destroyedthe sonsof Ammonand besiegedRabbah.But Davidstayedat Jerusalem.
Then the prophetcamenearto the kingof Israeland saidto him, "Go,strengthenyourself and observeand seewhatyou have to do;for at the turnof the yearthe kingof Aramwill comeup againstyou."
and musteran armylike the armythat you have lost,horsefor horse,and chariotfor chariot.Then we will fightagainstthem in the plain,and surelywe will be strongerthanthey." And he listenedto their voiceand didso.
But the restfledto Aphekinto the city,and the wallfellon 27,000menwho were left.And Ben-hadadfledand cameinto the cityinto an innerchamber.
He said,"Openthe windowtoward the east,"and he opened[it]. Then Elishasaid,"Shoot!"And he shot.And he said,"The LORD'Sarrowof victory,even the arrowof victoryover Aram;for you will defeatthe Arameansat Aphekuntilyou have destroyed[them]."

Asherdid not driveout the inhabitantsof Acco,or the inhabitantsof Sidon,or of Ahlab,or of Achzib,or of Helbah,or of Aphik,or of Rehob.
Now the Philistinesgatheredtogether alltheir armiesto Aphek,while the Israeliteswere campingby the springwhichis in Jezreel.
Thus the wordof Samuelcameto allIsrael.Now Israelwentout to meetthe Philistinesin battleand campedbesideEbenezerwhile the Philistinescampedin Aphek.
