(but ifshe does leave,she must remainunmarried,or elsebe reconciledto her husband),and that the husbandshould not divorcehis wife.
Thussaysthe LORD,"Whereis the certificateof divorceBy whichI have sentyour motheraway?Orto whomof My creditorsdid I sellyou? Behold,you were soldfor your iniquities,And for your transgressionsyour motherwas sentaway.
[God] says,"Ifa husbanddivorceshis wifeAnd she goesfrom him And belongsto anotherman,Will he stillreturnto her? Will not that landbe completelypolluted?But you are a harlot[with] manylovers;Yet you turnto Me," declaresthe LORD.
but I sayto you that everyonewho divorceshis wife,exceptfor [the] reasonof unchastity,makesher commit adultery;and whoevermarriesa divorcedwomancommits adultery.
and ifshe herselfdivorcesher husbandand marriesanother man,she is committingadultery."
[Some] Phariseescameup to Jesus, testingHim, and [began] to questionHim whetherit was lawfulfor a manto divorcea wife.
"Everyonewho divorceshis wifeand marriesanothercommitsadultery,and he who marriesone who is divorcedfrom a husbandcommits adultery.
But to the marriedI give instructions,not I, but the Lord,that the wifeshould not leaveher husband
But to the restI say,not the Lord,that ifanybrotherhasa wifewho is an unbeliever,and she consentsto livewith him, he must not divorceher.
and they shall finehim a hundred[shekels] of silverand giveit to the girl'sfather,becausehe publiclydefameda virginof Israel.And she shall remainhis wife;he cannotdivorceher allhis days.
