Then KingDavidroseto his feetand said,"Listento me, my brethrenand my people;I [had] intendedto builda permanenthomefor the arkof the covenantof the LORDand for the footstoolof our God.So I had madepreparationsto build[it].
Thussaysthe LORD,"Heavenis My throneand the earthis My footstool.Wherethenis a houseyou could buildfor Me? And whereis a placethat I may rest?
Exaltthe LORDour GodAnd worshipat His footstool;Holyis He.
Howthe Lordhas coveredthe daughterof ZionWith a cloudin His anger!He has castfrom heavento earthThe gloryof Israel,And has not rememberedHis footstoolIn the dayof His anger.
HEAVENIS MY THRONE,AND EARTHIS THE FOOTSTOOLOF MY FEET;WHAT KINDOF HOUSEWILL YOU BUILDFOR ME?' saysthe Lord,'ORWHATPLACEIS THERE FOR MY REPOSE?
"Thisis My restingplaceforever;HereI will dwell,for I have desiredit.
I will tellof Your nameto my brethren;In the midstof the assemblyI will praiseYou.
"Now behold,with greatpainsI have preparedfor the houseof the LORD100,000talentsof goldand 1,000,000talentsof silver,and bronzeand ironbeyondweight,for they are in greatquantity;also timberand stoneI have prepared,and you may addto them.
Now theseare those whomDavidappointedoverthe serviceof songin the houseof the LORD,afterthe arkrested[there].
"Moreover,the king'sservantscameto blessour lordKingDavid,saying,May your Godmakethe nameof Solomonbetterthanyour nameand his thronegreaterthanyour throne!'And the kingbowedhimself on the bed.
that his heartmay not be liftedup abovehis countrymenand that he may not turnasidefrom the commandment,to the rightor the left,sothat he and his sonsmay continuelongin his kingdomin the midstof Israel.
you shall surelyseta kingoveryou whomthe LORDyour Godchooses,[one] from amongyour countrymenyou shall setas kingoveryourselves; you maynot puta foreigneroveryourselves whois not your countryman.
When it was toldto Jacob,"Behold,your sonJosephhas cometo you," Israelcollectedhis strengthand satup in the bed.
"You knowthat Davidmy fatherwas unableto builda housefor the nameof the LORDhis Godbecauseof the warswhichsurroundedhim, untilthe LORDputthem underthe solesof his feet.
"Goand tellDavidMy servant,'Thussaysthe LORD,"You shall not builda housefor Me to dwellin;
"Now it was in the heartof my fatherDavidto builda housefor the nameof the LORD,the Godof Israel.
"The gloryof Lebanonwill cometo you, The juniper,the boxtreeand the cypresstogether,To beautifythe placeof My sanctuary;And I shall makethe placeof My feetglorious.
Then he calledfor his sonSolomon,and chargedhim to builda housefor the LORDGodof Israel.
Davidsaidto Solomon,"My son,I had intendedto builda houseto the nameof the LORDmy God.
The LORDsaysto my Lord:"Sitat My righthandUntilI makeYour enemiesa footstoolfor Your feet."
Howhe sworeto the LORDAnd vowedto the MightyOneof Jacob,
He saidto me, "Sonof man,[this is] the placeof My throneand the placeof the solesof My feet,whereI will dwellamongthe sonsof Israelforever.And the houseof Israelwill not againdefileMy holyname,neither they northeir kings,by their harlotryand by the corpsesof their kingswhen they die,
"Immediatelythe one who had receivedthe fivetalentswentand tradedwith them, and gainedfivemoretalents.
