The kingmadeof the almugtreessupportsfor the houseof the LORDand for the king'shouse,also lyresand harpsfor the singers;suchalmugtreeshave not comein [again] norhave they been seento thisday.
So they cameand calledto the gatekeepersof the city,and they toldthem, saying,"We cameto the campof the Arameans,and behold,therewas noonethere,northe voiceof man,onlythe horsestiedand the donkeystied,and the tentsjustas they were."
and Obed-edomwith his 68relatives;Obed-edom,also the sonof Jeduthun,and Hosahas gatekeepers.
He appointedsomeof the Levites[as] ministersbeforethe arkof the LORD,even to celebrateand to thankand praisethe LORDGodof Israel:
They are to standeverymorningto thankand to praisethe LORD,and likewiseat evening,
Now theseare the singers,headsof fathers'[households] of the Levites,[who lived] in the chambers[of the temple] free[from other service]; for they were engagedin their workdayand night.
They cameto Jerusalemwith harps,lyresand trumpetsto the houseof the LORD.
[They were] also overthe burdenbearers,and supervisedallthe workmenfrom jobto job;and [some] of the Levites[were] scribesand officialsand gatekeepers.
The singers,the sonsof Asaph,[were] also at their stationsaccording to the commandof David,Asaph,Heman,and Jeduthunthe king'sseer;and the gatekeepersat eachgatedid not haveto departfrom their service,becausethe Levitestheir brethrenpreparedfor them.
Now according to the ordinanceof his fatherDavid,he appointedthe divisionsof the priestsfor their service,and the Levitesfor their dutiesof praiseand ministeringbeforethe priestsaccording to the dailyrule,and the gatekeepersby their divisionsat everygate;for Davidthe manof Godhad socommanded.
Someof the sonsof Israeland someof the priests,the Levites,the singers,the gatekeepersand the templeservantswentup to Jerusalemin the seventhyearof KingArtaxerxes.
Now the priests,the Levites,the gatekeepers,the singers,someof the people,the templeservantsand allIsrael,livedin their cities.And when the seventhmonthcame,the sonsof Israel[were] in their cities.
Then those who singas well as those who playthe flutes[shall say], "Allmy springs[of joy] are in you."
Your holycitieshave becomea wilderness,Zionhas becomea wilderness,Jerusalema desolation.
Who improviseto the soundof the harp,[And] like Davidhave composedsongsfor themselves,
