And it cameabout, whenDaviddweltin his house,that Davidsaidto Nathanthe prophet,"Behold,I am dwellingin a houseof cedar,but the arkof the covenantof the LORDis undercurtains."
Then the LORDsentNathanto David.And he cameto him and said,"There were twomenin onecity,the onerichand the otherpoor.
and sent[word] throughNathanthe prophet,and he namedhim Jedidiahfor the LORD'Ssake.
So they broughtin the arkof the LORDand setit in its placeinsidethe tentwhichDavidhad pitchedfor it; and Davidofferedburntofferingsand peaceofferingsbeforethe LORD.
They toldthe king,saying,"Hereis Nathanthe prophet."And when he camein beforethe king,he prostratedhimself before the kingwith his faceto the ground.
"The kinghas also sentwith him Zadokthe priest,Nathanthe prophet,Benaiahthe sonof Jehoiada,the Cherethites,and the Pelethites;and they have made him rideon the king'smule.
But Zadokthe priest,Benaiahthe sonof Jehoiada,Nathanthe prophet,Shimei,Rei,and the mightymenwhobelonged to David,were not with Adonijah.
"Now it was in the heartof my fatherDavidto builda housefor the nameof the LORD,the Godof Israel.
Now Hiramkingof Tyresentmessengersto Davidwith cedartrees,masonsand carpenters,to builda housefor him.
Now [David] builthousesfor himself in the cityof David;and he prepareda placefor the arkof Godand pitcheda tentfor it.
And they broughtin the arkof Godand placedit insidethe tentwhichDavidhad pitchedfor it, and they offeredburntofferingsand peaceofferingsbeforeGod.
Then Nathansaidto David,"Doallthat is in your heart,for Godis with you."
for I have not dweltin a housesincethe daythat I broughtup Israelto thisday,but I have gonefrom tentto tentand from [one] dwellingplace[to another].
Then he calledfor his sonSolomon,and chargedhim to builda housefor the LORDGodof Israel.
Davidsaidto Solomon,"My son,I had intendedto builda houseto the nameof the LORDmy God.
Then KingDavidroseto his feetand said,"Listento me, my brethrenand my people;I [had] intendedto builda permanenthomefor the arkof the covenantof the LORDand for the footstoolof our God.So I had madepreparationsto build[it].
Now the actsof KingDavid,from firstto last,are writtenin the chroniclesof Samuelthe seer,in the chroniclesof Nathanthe prophetand in the chroniclesof Gadthe seer,
However,Davidhad broughtup the arkof Godfrom Kiriath-jearimto the place he had preparedfor it, for he had pitcheda tentfor it in Jerusalem.
UntilI finda placefor the LORD,A dwellingplacefor the MightyOneof Jacob."
"Moreover you shall makethe tabernaclewith tencurtainsof finetwistedlinenand blueand purpleand scarlet[material]; you shall makethem with cherubim,the workof a skillfulworkman.
"Do you becomea kingbecauseyou are competingin cedar?Did not your fathereatand drinkAnd dojusticeand righteousness?Thenit was wellwith him.
"I, Nebuchadnezzar,was at easein my houseand flourishingin my palace.
"Is it timefor you yourselvesto dwellin your paneledhouseswhile thishouse[lies] desolate?"
"[You] lookfor much,but behold,[it comes] to little;when you bring[it] home,I blowit [away]. Why?"declaresthe LORDof hosts,"Becauseof My housewhich[lies] desolate,while eachof you runsto his own house.
"[David] foundfavorin God'ssight,and askedthat he might finda dwelling placefor the Godof Jacob.
