111 Bible verses about asking for Wisdom

Think about it: asking God for wisdom is way more valuable than asking for riches. It's through wisdom that you come up with great strategies that can lead you to a truly successful life.

Not only that, but you become someone who can really help others – with timely advice, constructive feedback, and by contributing ideas and projects that can bless everyone around you. Wisdom is that good judgment you develop from experience, observation, and reflection.

King Solomon asked God for wisdom and became known as the wisest man on earth. God was pleased with Solomon because he didn't focus on material wealth, but on filling his spirit with the knowledge of God's glory. Someone who is wise enjoys a virtue that not many have. In God, wisdom is the infinite and perfect understanding of everything that is or could be. It's a gift from God that He wants everyone to ask for, just like it says in James 1:5.

God wants you to be filled with wisdom. It'll guide you every day, help you make good decisions, and keep you from falling into foolishness and getting swept away by the world. God is the source of wisdom, just as He is the source of power, and through the fear of the Lord, wisdom is given.

The Holy Spirit wants you to achieve your goals, fulfilling His will at all times, without rejecting God's word. Be careful how you live, not as a fool but as a wise person, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil (Ephesians 5:15-16). Wisdom shows in your actions; when a wise person does or says something, it's because they know it's right.

Draw near to God in prayer so His spirit can be upon you, filling you with wisdom. That way, you'll know that everything you do is guided by Him, and you'll become a prudent person, able to bless the lives of those who need wisdom. Ask God, and He will give abundantly, not just for your own benefit, but to give light to those in darkness and guide those who are lost.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

Prayer

You are my fortress, my castle, my refuge, the God of my salvation. I come to you because you are my calm, my peace, Holy Father. In Jesus' name, I thank you for your love. Truly, even when we are faithless, you remain faithful. Your word says, dear God, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." Deliver me from every curse, mistake, and recklessness. Fill me with your wisdom, for you are the one who can give it. My heart is open and humbled, ready for you to fill me, Holy Spirit. Reveal your word to me so I may find wisdom, and illuminate my understanding and reasoning. Sharpen my senses and make me an effective instrument in the church, in my work, in my family, and in the kingdom of God. Help me manage my life with your wisdom, dear God, for it is more precious than all the riches of the earth. I ask that you open my spiritual eyes and ears so I can clearly hear the direction of your Spirit. In the name of Jesus, I resist and cast out the spirit of confusion, of mental paralysis, of stupor, of laziness. Holy Spirit, fill my body, soul, and spirit, bringing light and scattering any darkness that tries to obscure and twist the path of my life. Father, before your presence, I incline my ear to hear your words and put them into practice, and to receive through them wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and every good gift that comes from you to my spirit. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
