Think about it: asking God for wisdom is way more valuable than asking for riches. It's through wisdom that you come up with great strategies that can lead you to a truly successful life.
Not only that, but you become someone who can really help others – with timely advice, constructive feedback, and by contributing ideas and projects that can bless everyone around you. Wisdom is that good judgment you develop from experience, observation, and reflection.
King Solomon asked God for wisdom and became known as the wisest man on earth. God was pleased with Solomon because he didn't focus on material wealth, but on filling his spirit with the knowledge of God's glory. Someone who is wise enjoys a virtue that not many have. In God, wisdom is the infinite and perfect understanding of everything that is or could be. It's a gift from God that He wants everyone to ask for, just like it says in James 1:5.
God wants you to be filled with wisdom. It'll guide you every day, help you make good decisions, and keep you from falling into foolishness and getting swept away by the world. God is the source of wisdom, just as He is the source of power, and through the fear of the Lord, wisdom is given.
The Holy Spirit wants you to achieve your goals, fulfilling His will at all times, without rejecting God's word. Be careful how you live, not as a fool but as a wise person, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil (Ephesians 5:15-16). Wisdom shows in your actions; when a wise person does or says something, it's because they know it's right.
Draw near to God in prayer so His spirit can be upon you, filling you with wisdom. That way, you'll know that everything you do is guided by Him, and you'll become a prudent person, able to bless the lives of those who need wisdom. Ask God, and He will give abundantly, not just for your own benefit, but to give light to those in darkness and guide those who are lost.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.And Solomon said, Thou hast shown to thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.Give therefore to thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
