And the time for Yisra’ĕl to die drew near, and he called his son Yosĕph and said to him, “Now if I have found favour in your eyes, please put your hand under my thigh, and show loving-commitment and truth to me. Please do not bury me in Mitsrayim,
And he cried out against the slaughter-place by the word of יהוה, and said, “O slaughter-place, slaughter-place! Thus said יהוה, ‘See, a son is to be born to the house of Dawiḏ, Yoshiyahu is his name. And on you he shall slaughter the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and men’s bones be burned on you.’ ”
And he said, “About this appointed time next year you shall embrace a son.” And she said, “No, my master, man of Elohim, do not lie to your female servant!”
If a man dies, would he live again? All the days of my struggle I wait, till my change comes.
Since his days are decided, the number of his new moons is with You, You have made his laws, and he does not pass over.
“Does not man have to struggle on earth? For his days are like the days of a hired man.
Causing the barren woman to dwell in a house, A rejoicing mother of children. Praise Yah!
Let Ěl also break you down forever, Take you and pluck you out of your tent. And He shall uproot you From the land of the living. Selah.
Prepare your outside work, And make it fit for yourself in the field; Then you shall build your house.
Does the ploughman keep ploughing all day to sow? Does he keep turning his soil and breaking the clods?
In those days Ḥizqiyahu was sick and near death. And Yeshayahu the prophet, the son of Amots, came to him, and said to him, “Thus said יהוה, ‘Command your house, for you are going to die and not live.’ ”
“Go and say to Ḥizqiyahu, ‘Thus said יהוה, the Elohim of Dawiḏ your father, “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears. See, I am adding fifteen years to your days.
“Sing, O barren one, you who did not bear! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you who have not been in labour! For the children of the deserted one are more than the children of the married woman,” said יהוה.
“See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the reigns, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.”
“Say this to him, ‘Thus said יהוה, “See, what I have built I am breaking down, and what I have planted I am plucking up, that is, the entire land.
“The Son of Aḏam shall send out His messengers, and they shall gather out of His reign all the stumbling-blocks, and those doing lawlessness,
But He answering, said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted shall be uprooted.
But the messenger said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zeḵaryah, for your prayer is heard. And your wife Elisheḇa shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Yoḥanan.
But see, you shall be silent and unable to speak until the day this takes place, because you did not believe my words which shall be filled in their appointed time.
“And see, Elisheḇa your relative, she has also conceived a son in her old age. And this is now the sixth month to her who was called barren,
“The woman has grief when she is in labour, because her hour has come, but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the affliction, for joy that a man was born into the world.
So they were seeking to seize Him, but no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.
“But as the time of the promise drew near which Elohim had sworn to Aḇraham, the people increased and multiplied in Mitsrayim
“At that time Mosheh was born, and he was well-pleasing to Elohim. And he was reared three months in the house of his father.
But when the completion of the time came, Elohim sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under Torah,
And Mosheh the servant of יהוה died there in the land of Mo’aḇ, according to the mouth of יהוה.
“The satisfied have hired themselves out for bread, and the hungry have ceased. Even the barren has borne seven, and she who has many children pines away.
