And the rest of the people he gave under the hand of Aḇishai his brother, and he put them in battle array against the children of Ammon.


And when the children of Ammon saw that the Arameans were fleeing, they also fled before Aḇishai, and went into the city. And Yo’aḇ returned from the children of Ammon and came to Yerushalayim.


And Dawiḏ said to Aḇishai, “Now Sheḇa son of Biḵri is going to do us more evil than Aḇshalom. Take the servants of your master, and pursue him, lest he find for himself walled cities, and escape us.”


But Aḇishai son of Tseruyah came to help him, and struck the Philistine and killed him. Then Dawiḏ’s men swore to him, saying, “Do not go out with us to battle any more, lest you put out the lamp of Yisra’ĕl.”


And Aḇishai the brother of Yo’aḇ, son of Tseruyah, was chief of another three. And he lifted his spear against three hundred men whom he slew, and had a name among these three.


So Yo’aḇ and Aḇishai his brother killed Aḇnĕr, because he had killed their brother Asah’ĕl at Giḇ‛on in the battle.


“He does build a house for My Name, and I shall establish the throne of his reign forever.


And it came to be, when Dawiḏ was in Eḏom, and Yo’aḇ the commander of the army had gone up to bury the slain, after he had struck every male in Eḏom –


He struck Eḏom in the Valley of Salt, ten thousand, and took Sela in battle, and called its name Yoqthe’ĕl to this day.


And Aḇishai the brother of Yo’aḇ was chief of another three. And he had lifted up his spear against three hundred men, who were slain, and won a name among the three.


Sovereign Dawiḏ also set these apart to יהוה, along with the silver and gold that he had brought from all these nations, from Eḏom, and from Mo’aḇ, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalĕq.


and he put watch-posts in Eḏom, and all the Eḏomites became Dawiḏ’s servants. And יהוה saved Dawiḏ wherever he went.


And the rest of the people he put under the command of Aḇishai his brother, and they set themselves in battle array to meet the children of Ammon.


And their sisters: Tseruyah and Aḇiḡayil. And the sons of Tseruyah: Aḇishai, and Yo’aḇ, and Asah’ĕl, three.


And Amatsyahu strengthened himself, and led his people, and went to the Valley of Salt and struck ten thousand of the sons of Sĕ‛ir.


O Elohim, You have rejected us; You have broken us; You have been displeased; Turn back to us!


You have made the earth tremble; You have broken it; Heal its breaches, for it is shaken.


And Dawiḏ spoke up and said to Aḥimeleḵ the Ḥittite and to Aḇishai son of Tseruyah, brother of Yo’aḇ, saying, “Who does go down with me to Sha’ul in the camp?” And Aḇishai said, “I, I go down with you.”


And Aḇishai said to Dawiḏ, “Elohim has surrendered your enemy into your hand this day. And now, please, let me strike him at once with the spear, right into the earth, and not a second time!”
