A king’s wrath is a messenger of death, and a wise man will appease it.


Then the officials said to the king, “Let this man be put to death, for he is weakening the hands of the soldiers who are left in this city, and the hands of all the people, by speaking such words to them. For this man is not seeking the welfare of this people, but their harm.”


Nor do you understand that it is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish.”


Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the Lord do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.”


And Saul said, “God do so to me and more also; you shall surely die, Jonathan.”


God do so to the enemies of David and more also, if by morning I leave so much as one male of all who belong to him.”


And Eli said, “What was it that he told you? Do not hide it from me. May God do so to you and more also if you hide anything from me of all that he told you.”
