Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.


Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.


Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.


And now, O sons, listen to me, and do not depart from the words of my mouth.


He feeds on ashes; a deluded heart has led him astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say, “Is there not a lie in my right hand?”


Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!


Thus says the Lord, Do not deceive yourselves, saying, “The Chaldeans will surely go away from us,” for they will not go away.


“How can you say, ‘We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us’? But behold, the lying pen of the scribes has made it into a lie.


As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.


Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.


Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”

And he said, “See that you are not led astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time is at hand!’ Do not go after them.


Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.


Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.


Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”


If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.


We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute.

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.


If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
