But he answered him: I will not go with thee, but I will return to my country, wherein I was born.


And they drew night to the town, whither they were going: and he made as though he would go farther.


But my just man liveth by faith; but if he withdraw himself, he shall not please my soul.


But if it seem evil to you to serve the Lord, you have your choice: choose this day that which pleaseth you, whom you would rather serve, whether the gods which your fathers served in Mesopotamia, or the gods of the Amorrhites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.


And Josue said to the people: You will not be able to serve the Lord. For he is a holy God, and mighty and jealous, and will not forgive your wickedness and sins.


They went out from us, but they were not of us. For if they had been of us, they would no doubt have remained with us; but that they may be manifest, that they are not all of us.


Are not those things which thy god Chamos possesseth due to thee by right? But what the Lord our God hath obtained by conquest shall be our possession.


And they lifted up their voice, and began to weep again. Orpha kissed her mother-in-law and returned: Ruth stuck close to her mother-in-law.


She answered: Be not against me to desire that I should leave thee and depart. For whithersoever thou shalt go, I will go: and where thou shalt dwell, I also will dwell. Thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.
