Say ye among the Gentiles, the Lord hath reigned. For he hath corrected the world, which shall not be moved: he will judge the people with justice.


Therefore Moses and Aaron went in to Pharao, and said to him: Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews: How long refusest thou to submit to me? Let my people go, to sacrifice to me.


And the Lord said to Moses: How long will you refuse to keep my commandments, and my law?


O children, how long will you love childishness, and fools covet those things which are hurtful to themselves, and the unwise hate knowledge?


How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou rise out of thy sleep?


The Lord hath mingled in the midst thereof the spirit of giddiness: and they have caused Egypt to err in all its works, as a drunken man staggereth and vomiteth.


Wash thy heart from wickedness, O Jerusalem, that thou mayst be saved. How long shall hurtful thoughts abide in thee?


And the Lord said to Moses: How long will this people detract me? how long will they not believe me for all the signs that I have wrought before them?


How long doth this wicked multitude murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel.


And he wrought not many miracles there, because of their unbelief.


And Jesus knowing it, said: Why do you think within yourselves, O ye of little faith, for that you have no bread?


Then Jesus answered and said: O unbelieving and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.


Then came the disciples to Jesus secretly, and said: Why could not we cast him out?


And if the grass of the field, which is to day, and to morrow is cast into the oven, God doth so clothe: how much more you, O ye of little faith?


And Jesus saith to them: Why are you fearful, O ye of little faith? Then rising up he commanded the winds, and the sea, and there came a great calm.


At length he appeared to the eleven as they were at table: and he upbraided them with their incredulity and hardness of heart, because they did not believe them who had seen him after he was risen again.


And they brought him. And when he had seen him, immediately the spirit troubled him; and being thrown down upon the ground, he rolled about foaming.


Then he said to them: O foolish, and slow of heart to believe in all things which the prophets have spoken.


And Jesus answering, said: O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring hither thy son.


Then he saith to Thomas: Put in thy finger hither, and see my hands; and bring hither thy hand, and put it into my side; and be not faithless, but believing.


And for the space of forty years endured their manners in the desert.


And with very many other words did he testify and exhort them, saying: Save yourselves from this perverse generation.


Would to God you could bear with some little of my folly: but do bear with me.


They have sinned against him, and are none of his children in their filth: they are a wicked and perverse generation.
