Then the Lord said to Satan: Behold, all that he hath is in thy hand; only put not forth thy hand upon his person. And Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.


A violent wind came on a sudden from the side of the desert, and shook the four corners of the house. And it fell upon thy children; and they are dead. And I alone have escaped to fell thee.


But the Lord sent a great wind into the sea: and a great tempest was raised in the sea, and the ship was in danger to be broken.


And sending away the multitude, they take him even as he was in the ship: and there were other ships with him.


And he was in the hinder part of the ship, sleeping upon a pillow; and they awake him, and say to him: Master, doth it not concern thee that we perish?


And when we were fallen into a place where two seas met, they run the ship aground; and the forepart indeed, sticking fast, remained unmoveable: but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the sea.


Thrice was I beaten with rods, once I was stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I was in the depth of the sea.
