That the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremias might be fulfilled, and the land might keep her sabbaths. For all the days of the desolation she kept a sabbath, till the seventy years were expired.


But know ye and understand, that if you put me to death, you will shed innocent blood against your own selves and against this city and the inhabitants thereof. For in truth the Lord sent me to you, to speak all these words in your hearing.


Micheas of Morasthi was a prophet in the days of Ezechias king of Juda, and he spoke to all the people of Juda, saying: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Sion shall be ploughed like a field, and Jerusalem shall be a heap of stones, and the mountain of the house, the high places of woods.


There was also a man that prophesied in the name of the Lord, Urias the son of Semei of Cariathiarim: and he prophesied against this city and against this land, according to all the words of Jeremias.


Behold, I will command, saith the Lord, and I will bring them again to this city: and they shall fight against it and take it and burn it with fire. And I will make the cities of Juda a desolation, without an inhabitant.


Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring upon Juda, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them, because I have spoken to them, and they have not heard: I have called to them, and they have not answered me.


And I will punish him and his seed and his servants, for their iniquities: and I will bring upon them and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem and upon the men of Juda all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they have not heard.


And he hath brought it. And the Lord hath done as he hath said: because you have sinned against the Lord and have not hearkened to his voice, and this word is come upon you.


Behold, I will watch over them for evil and not for good: and all the men of Juda that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by famine till there be an end of them.


Thus saith the Lord the God of hosts: Because you have spoken this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth as fire and this people as wood; and it shall devour them.


And if they go into captivity before their enemies, there will I command the sword, and it shall kill them. And I will set my eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.


But yet my words, and my ordinances, which I gave in charge to my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers, and they returned, and said: As the Lord of hosts thought to do to us according to our ways, and according to our devices, so he hath done to us.


Heaven and earth shall pass, but my words shall not pass.
