Now when God destroyed the cities of that country, remembering Abraham, he delivered Lot out of the destruction of the cities wherein he had dwelt.


And when Abraham prayed, God healed Abimelech and his wife, and his handmaids: and they bore children:


Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet. And he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: but if thou wilt not restore her, know that thou shalt surely die, thou and all that are thine.


But he said: Thy name shall not be called Jacob, but Israel: for if thou hast been strong against God, how much more shalt thou prevail against men?


Said to him: Impute not to me, my lord, the iniquity, nor remember the injuries of thy servant on the day that thou, my lord, the king, wentest out of Jerusalem, nor lay it up in thy heart, O king.


And the king said to the man of God: Entreat the face of the Lord thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me. And the man of God besought the face of the Lord: and the king's hand was restored to him; and it became as it was before.


And the Lord heard him, and was merciful to the people.


Take unto you therefore seven oxen, and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer for yourselves a holocaust. And my servant Job shall pray for you. His face I will accept, that folly be not imputed to you: for you have not spoken right things before me, as my servant Job hath.


But they rejoiced against me, and came together: scourges were gathered together upon me, and I knew not.

The Lord is far from the wicked: and he will hear the prayers of the just.

And Samuel cried unto the Lord: and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day.
