Then at length the chief butler remembering said: I confess my sin.


And Juda said to him: What shall we answer my lord? Or what shall we say, or be able justly to allege? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: Behold, we are all bondmen to my lord, both we, and he with whom the cup was found.


And he said to his brethren: I am Joseph. Is my father yet living? His brethren could no answer him, being struck with exceeding great fear.


Now he being dead, his brethren were afraid, and talked one with another: Lest perhaps he should remember the wrong he suffered, and requite us all the evil that we did to him.


And David said to Nathan: I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said to David: The Lord also hath taken away thy sin. Thou shalt not die.


And she said to Elias: What have I to do with thee, thou man of God? Art thou come to me that my iniquities should be remembered, and that thou shouldst kill my son?


He that stoppeth his ear against the cry of the poor, shall also cry himself and shall not be heard.


A man that doth violence to the blood of a person, if he flee even to the pit, no man will stay him.


Hath not this been done to thee, because thou hast forsaken the Lord thy God, at that time when he led thee by the way?


Thy own wickedness shall reprove thee, and thy apostasy shall rebuke thee. Know thou, and see that it is an evil and a bitter thing for thee, to have left the Lord thy God, and that my fear is not with thee, saith the Lord, the God of hosts.


Therefore thus saith the Lord: You have not hearkened to me in proclaiming liberty every man to his brother and every man to his friend: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the Lord, to the sword, to the pestilence and to the famine: and I will cause you to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth.


Thy ways and thy devices have brought these things upon thee: this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it hath touched thy heart.


I will go and return to my place: until you are consumed, and seek my face.


But if you do not what you say, no man can doubt but you sin against God. And know ye, that your sin shall overtake you.


For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again.


For every one shall be salted with fire: and every victim shall be salted with salt.


That he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torments.


And many of them that believed, came confessing and declaring their deeds.


For judgment without mercy to him that hath not done mercy. And mercy exalteth itself above judgment.


If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all iniquity.


And Adonibezec said: Seventy kings, having their fingers and toes cut off, gathered up the leavings of the meat under my table. As I have done, so hath God requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
