And the princes told Pharao, and praised her before him: and the woman was taken into the house of Pharao.


But the Lord scourged Pharao and his house with most grievous stripes for Sarai, Abram's wife.


But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat. For in what day soever thou shalt eat of it, thou shalt die the death.


For the Lord had closed up every womb of the house of Abimelech, on account of Sara, Abraham's wife.


And God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and he said to him: Lo, thou shalt die for the woman thou hast taken; for she hath a husband.


And Abimelech forthwith rising up in the night called all his servants: and spoke all these words in their hearing. And all the men were exceedingly afraid.


My Lord, hear us: Thou art a prince of God among us. Bury thy dead in our principle sepulchres: and no man shall have power to hinder thee from burying thy dead in his sepulchre.


And David said to the Lord, when he saw the angel striking the people: It is I. I am he that have sinned. I have done wickedly. These that are the sheep, what have they done? Let thy hand, I beseech thee, be turned against me, and against my father's house.


And the king said to the man of God: Entreat the face of the Lord thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me. And the man of God besought the face of the Lord: and the king's hand was restored to him; and it became as it was before.


Naaman was angry and went away, saying: I thought he would have come out to me, and standing would have invoked the name of the Lord his God, and touched with his hand the place of the leprosy, and healed me.


Touch not my anointed: and do no evil to my prophets.


For a great part of the people from Ephraim, and Manasses, and Issachar, and Zabulon, that had not been sanctified, ate the phase otherwise than it is written. And Ezechias prayed for them, saying: The Lord who is good will shew mercy,


Who accepteth not the persons of princes: nor hath regarded the tyrant, when he contended against the poor man. For all are the work of his hands.

And the Lord said to me: Pray not for this people for their good.


And the Lord said to me: If Moses and Samuel shall stand before me, my soul is not towards this people. Cast them out from my sight and let them go forth.


But if they be prophets and the word of the Lord be in them: let them interpose themselves before the Lord of hosts, that the vessels which were left in the house of the Lord and in the house of the king of Juda and in Jerusalem may not go to Babylon.


If, when I say to the wicked, Thou shalt surely die: thou declare it not to him nor speak to him that he may be converted from his wicked way and live: the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity but I will require his blood at thy hand.


When I say to the wicked: O wicked man, thou shalt surely die: if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked man from his way: that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but I will require his blood at thy hand.


Being convicted of the offence, he shall restore


And he shall pray for him before the Lord: and he shall have forgiveness for every thing in doing of which he hath sinned.


Then Simon answering, said: Pray you for me to the Lord, that none of these things which you have spoken may come upon me.


He that speaketh in a tongue, edifieth himself: but he that prophesieth, edifieth the church.


God, who, at sundry times and in divers manners, spoke in times past to the fathers by the prophets, last of all,


Marriage honourable in all, and the bed undefiled. For fornicators and adulterers God will judge.


He that knoweth his brother to sin a sin which is not to death, let him ask, and life shall be given to him, who sinneth not to death. There is a sin unto death: for that I say not that any man ask.


And all the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel. And all the people said to Samuel: Pray for thy servants to the Lord thy God, that we may not die; for we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask for a king.


And far from me be this sin against the Lord, that I should cease to pray for you. And I will teach you the good and right way.


And Samuel said: Gather all Israel to Masphath, that I may pray to the Lord for you.


And they said to Samuel: Cease not to cry to the Lord our God for us, that he may save us out of the hand of the Philistines.
