Then Elias said to the prophets of Baal: Choose you one bullock, and dress it first, because you are many: and call on the names of your gods, but put no fire under.


And seven days were fully ended, after that the Lord struck the river.


And he answered: Tomorrow. But he said: I will do according to thy word; that thou mayst know that there is none like to the Lord our God.


And the frogs shall depart from thee, and from thy house, and from thy servants, and from thy people: and shall remain only in the river.


But Pharao called Moses and Aaron, and said to them: Pray ye to the Lord to take away the frogs from me and from my people; and I will let the people go to sacrifice to the Lord.


Shall the axe boast itself against him that cutteth with it? Or shall the saw exalt itself against him by whom it is drawn? As if a rod should lift itself up against him that lifteth it up, and a staff exalt itself, which is but wood.


And the Lord said: I have forgiven according to thy word,


And the Lord said to Gedeon: The people that are with thee are many, and Madian shall not be delivered into their hands. Lest Israel should glory against me, and say: I was delivered by my own strength.
