After many days the word of the Lord came to Elias, in the third year, saying: Go and shew thyself to Achab, that I may give rain upon the face of the earth.


Hast thou entered into the storehouses of the snow? Or has thou beheld the treasures of the hail:


Who made the great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever.


The rich ruleth over the poor: and the borrower is servant to him that lendeth.


And I will make them a blessing round about my hill: and I will send down the rain in its season, there shall be showers of blessing.


And the ground shall bring forth its increase: and the trees shall be filled with fruit.


He will give to your land the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your corn, and your wine, and your oil,


And the Levite that hath no other part nor possession with thee, and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come and shall eat and be filled: that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the works of thy hands that thou shalt do.


But thou shalt give to him. Neither shalt thou do any thing craftily in relieving his necessities: that the Lord thy God may bless thee at all times, and in all things to which thou shalt put thy hand.


Thou shalt lend to many nations, and thou shalt borrow of no man. Thou shalt have dominion over very many nations: and no one shall have dominion over thee.


But to the stranger. To thy brother thou shalt lend that which he wanteth, without usury: that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all thy works in the land, which thou shalt go in to possess.


The Lord give thee dust for rain upon thy land: and let ashes come down from heaven upon thee, till thou be consumed.


He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him. He shall be as the head, and thou shalt be the tail.
