Be of good courage, and let us fight for our people, and for the city of our God: and the Lord will do what is good in his sight.


And the mourning being over, David sent and brought her into his house. And she became his wife; and she bore him a son. And this thing which David had done was displeasing to the Lord.


For all of my father's house were no better than worthy of death before my lord the king; and thou hast set me thy servant among the guests of thy table. What just complaint therefore have I? Or what right to cry any more to the king?


And he brought me forth into a large place: he delivered me, because I pleased him.


Blessed be the Lord thy God, whom thou hast pleased, and who hath set thee upon the throne of Israel: because the Lord hath loved Israel for ever, and hath appointed thee king, to do judgment and justice.


And God was displeased with this thing that was commanded: and he struck Israel.


Blessed be the Lord thy God, who hath been pleased to set thee on his throne, king of the Lord thy God. Because God loveth Israel, and will preserve them for ever: therefore hath he made thee king over them, to do judgment and justice.


that I should do thy will: O my God, I have desired it, and thy law in the midst of my heart.


BEHOLD my servant: I will uphold him. My elect: my soul delighteth in him. I have given my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.


Thou shalt no more be called Forsaken, and thy land shall no more be called Desolate: but thou shalt be called My pleasure in her, and thy land inhabited. Because the Lord hath been well pleased with thee: and thy land shall be inhabited.


Is this man Jechonias an earthen and a broken vessel? Is he a vessel wherein there is no pleasure? Why are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not?


And I will rejoice over them when I shall do them good: and I will plant them in this land in truth, with my whole heart, and with all my soul.


If the Lord be favourable, he will bring us into it, and give us a land flowing with milk and honey.


And Ezechias begot Manasses. And Manasses begot Amon. And Amon begot Josias.


And now we are in thy hand: deal with us as it seemeth good and right unto thee.


And the children of Israel said to the Lord: We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever pleaseth thee: Only deliver us this time.


So Samuel told him all the words, and did not hide them from him. And he answered: It is the Lord. Let him do what is good in his sight.
