And he said: Whether they come for peace, take them alive: or whether they come to fight, take them alive.


But the rest of the acts of Joas, and all that he did, and his valour wherewith he fought against Amasias king of Juda, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?


But Amasias did not rest satisfied. So Joas king of Israel went up; and he and Amasias king of Juda saw one another in Bethsames a town in Juda.


But Amasias, after he had slain the Edomites, set up the gods of the children of Seir, which he had brought thence, to be his gods: and adored them, and burnt incense to them.


Among the proud there are always contentions: but they that do all things with counsel, are ruled by wisdom.


The beginning of quarrels is as when one letteth out water: before he suffereth reproach he forsaketh judgment.


The lips of a fool intermeddle with strife: and his mouth provoketh quarrels.


Designs are strengthened by counsels: and wars are to be managed by governments.


The things which thy eyes have seen, utter not hastily in a quarrel: lest afterward thou mayst not be able to make amends, when thou hast dishonoured thy friend.


Would to God that some man would put this people under my hand, that I might remove Abimelech out of the way! And it was said to Abimelech: Gather together the multitude of an army, and come.
