And this shall be a sign to thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, Ophni and Phinees: In one day they shall both of them die.


And the Lord said to Samuel: Behold, I do a thing in Israel: and whosoever shall hear it, both his ears shall tingle.


In that day I will raise up against Heli all the things I have spoken concerning his house: I will begin, and I will make an end.


And he said to Heli: I am he that came from the battle, and have fled out of the field this day. And he said to him: What is there done, my son?


And when he had named the ark of God, he fell from his stool backwards by the door, and broke his neck, and died. For he was an old man, and far advanced in years. And he judged Israel forty years.
