And let peoples serve thee, and tribes worship thee. Be thou lord of thy brethren, and let thy mother's children bow down before thee. Cursed be he that curseth thee: and let him that blesseth thee be filled with blessings.


And king David came as far as Bahurim: and behold, there came out from thence a man of the kindred of the house of Saul named Semei, the son of Gera. And coming out he cursed as he went on.


And Abisai the son of Sarvia said to the king: Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? I will go, and cut off his head.


Why didst thou go in to my father's concubine? And he was exceedingly angry for the words of Isboseth, and said: Am I a dog's head against Juda this day, who have shewn mercy to the house of Saul thy father, and to his brethren and friends, and have not delivered thee into the hands of David; and hast thou sought this day against me to charge me with a matter concerning a woman?


He bowed down to him, and said: Who am I thy servant, that thou shouldst look upon such a dead dog as I am?


And the messengers returning brought him word. And he sent again and said: Such and such things may the gods do to me, and more may they add, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.


And Hazael said: But what am I thy servant a dog, that I should do this great thing? And Eliseus said: The Lord hath shewn me that thou shalt be king of Syria.


As a bird flying to other places, and a sparrow going here or there: so a curse uttered without cause shall come upon a man.


Come therefore, and curse this people, because it is mightier than I, if by any means I may beat them and drive them out of my land. For I know that he whom thou shalt bless is blessed, and he whom thou shalt curse is cursed.


Went out into the fields, wasting the vineyards, and treading down the grapes. And singing and dancing they went into the temple of their god, and in their banquets and cups they cursed Abimelech.


And the men of the garrison spoke to Jonathan, and to his armourbearer, and said: Come up to us, and we will shew you a thing. And Jonathan said to his armourbearer: Let us go up. Follow me; for the Lord hath delivered them into the hands of Israel.


As also it is said in the old proverb: From the wicked shall wickedness come forth: therefore my hand shall not be upon thee. After whom dost thou come out, O king of Israel?


After whom dost thou pursue? After a dead dog? After a flea?
