But David took the castle of Sion. The same is the city of David.


And king Solomon loved many strange women besides the daughter of Pharao. And women of Moab, and of Ammon, and of Edom, and of Sidon, and of the Hethites:


So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.


And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel came out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of the reign of Solomon over Israel, in the month Zio (the same is the second month), he began to build a house to the Lord.


And Solomon built his own house in thirteen years, and brought it to perfection.


And in the midst of the porch was a small house where he sat in judgment, of the like work. He made also a house for the daughter of Pharao (whom Solomon had taken to wife) of the same work as this porch,


And it came to pass when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the Lord, and the king's house, and all that he desired, and was pleased to do,


And when twenty years were ended after Solomon had built the two houses, that is, the house of the Lord, and the house of the king,


And the daughter of Pharao came up out of the city of David to her house, which Solomon had built for her. Then did he build Mello.


And David dwelt in the castle: and therefore it was called the city of David.


Now Josaphat was rich and very glorious, and was joined by affinity to Achab.


And he removed the daughter of Pharao from the city of David, to the house which he had built for her. For the king said: My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, for it is sanctified: because the ark of the Lord came into it.


And they answered us in these words, saying: We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth; and we are building a temple that was built these many years ago, and which a great king of Israel built and set up.


That we should not turn away, nor break thy commandments, nor join in marriage with the people of these abominations. Art thou angry with us unto utter destruction, not to leave us a remnant to be saved?


They that are born of them, in the third generation shall enter into the church of the Lord.
