A Psalm of David. The Lord directs me, and nothing will be lacking to me.


O Lord, save your people and bless your inheritance, and reign over them and exalt them, even unto eternity.


And all the kings of the earth shall adore him. All nations will serve him.


The indigent and the poor are seeking water, but there is none. Their tongue has been dried up by thirst. I, the Lord, will heed them. I, the God of Israel, will not abandon them.


LAMED. O all you who pass by the way, attend, and see if there is any sorrow like my sorrow. For he has made me a vintage, just as the Lord has spoken in the day of his furious anger.


Why would you forget us forever? Why would you forsake us for a long time?


as I was still speaking in prayer, behold, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, flying swiftly, touched me at the time of the evening sacrifice.


Now from the sixth hour, there was darkness over the entire earth, even until the ninth hour.


And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying: "Eli, Eli, lamma sabacthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?"


Now it was the third hour. And they crucified him.


And some of those standing near, upon hearing this, said, "Behold, he is calling Elijah."


Now it was nearly the sixth hour, and a darkness occurred over the entire earth, until the ninth hour.


And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said: "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit." And upon saying this, he expired.


This man saw in a vision clearly, at about the ninth hour of the day, the Angel of God entering to him and saying to him: "Cornelius!"


It is Christ who, in the days of his flesh, with a strong cry and tears, offered prayers and supplications to the One who was able to save him from death, and who was heard because of his reverence.
