Now Ephron dwelt in the midst of the sons of Heth. And Ephron responded to Abraham in the hearing of everyone who was entering at the gate of his city, saying:


"I am a newcomer and a sojourner among you. Give me the right of a sepulcher among you, so that I may bury my dead."


And he said to them: "If it pleases your soul that I should bury my dead, hear me, and intercede on my behalf with Ephron, the son of Zohar,


which he had bought from the sons of Heth. There he was buried, with his wife Sarah.


And he instructed them, saying: "I am being gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the double cave, which is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,


And carrying him into the land of Canaan, they buried him in the double cave, which Abraham had bought along with its field, from Ephron the Hittite, as a possession for burial, opposite Mamre.


And David said to him: "Give this place of your threshing floor to me, so that I may build an altar to the Lord upon it. And you shall accept from me as much money as it is worth, so that the plague may cease from the people."


And king David said to him: "By no means shall it be so. Instead, I will give money to you, as much as it is worth. For I must not take it from you, and thereby offer to the Lord holocausts that cost nothing."


Render to no one harm for harm. Provide good things, not only in the sight of God, but also in the sight of all men.


You should owe nothing to anyone, except so as to love one another. For whoever loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
