And Peter, taking him aside, began to rebuke him, saying, "Lord, may it be far from you; this shall not happen to you."


And they will kill him, but he will rise again on the third day." And they were extremely saddened.


And they questioned him, saying: "Then why do the Pharisees and the scribes say that Elijah must arrive first?"


And they went to Capernaum. And when they were in the house, he questioned them, "What did you discuss on the way?"


But they understood none of these things. For this word was concealed from them, and they did not understand the things that were said.


And they did not understand the word that he spoke to them.


Now an idea entered into them, as to which of them was greater.


At first, his disciples did not realize these things. But when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about him, and that these things happened to him.


The crowd answered him: "We have heard, from the law, that the Christ remains forever. And so how can you say, 'The Son of man must be lifted up?' Who is this Son of man?"


Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"


Therefore, the disciples said to one another, "Could someone have brought him something to eat?"
