Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?


He maketh the barren woman to keep house, And to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye Jehovah.


Then was our mouth filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing: Then said they among the nations, Jehovah hath done great things for them.


Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, these may forget, yet will not I forget thee.


Then shalt thou say in thy heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have been bereaved of my children, and am solitary, an exile, and wandering to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where were they?


Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith Jehovah.


Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man-child is born unto thee; making him very glad.


And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.


And her neighbors and her kinsfolk heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy towards her; and they rejoiced with her.


Rejoice with them that rejoice; weep with them that weep.


By faith even Sarah herself received power to conceive seed when she was past age, since she counted him faithful who had promised:


And she said, Oh, my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto Jehovah.
