After these things, someone said to Joseph, “Your father is weakening.” He took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.


Then he left them, went out of the city to Bethany, and spent the night there.


When they approached Jerusalem, near Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples


He said these things, and after that, he said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I may wake him up from sleep.”


Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away.


Many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary to comfort them about their brother.


So the sisters sent for him, saying, “Lord, look, the one you love is sick.”


So the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to testify about it.


Now a large crowd of the Jews learned that he was there so they came, not only for Jesus’s sake, but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.


About that time, she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room.
