While he was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at the table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume from pure nard. She broke the jar and poured it over his head.


When the Lord saw her, he felt gut-wrenching sympathy for her and said to her, “Don’t cry.”


and sent them to the Lord to ask, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for someone else?”


Then Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother wouldn’t have died.


So the sisters sent for him, saying, “Lord, look, the one you love is sick.”


When Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell down at his feet and said to him, “Lord, if you would have been here, my brother wouldn’t have died.”


Then Mary took a pound of pure nard, very precious perfume, and anointed Jesus’s feet and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.


Y’all call me, ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’ and y’all are right, for that is what I am.


Then if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed y’all’s feet, then y’all should wash one another’s feet.
