After this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre (that is, Hebron), in the land of Canaan.


“I am a stranger and a foreigner living with y’all. Give me a possession of a burial site among y’all so that I may bury my dead out of my sight.”


Isaac gave up the spirit and died, and was gathered to his people, old and full of days. Esau and Jacob, his sons, buried him.


but when I sleep with my fathers, you must carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their burying place.” Joseph said, “I will do as you have said.”


He instructed them, and said to them, “I am to be gathered to my people. Y’all must bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,


There they buried Abraham and Sarah, his wife. There they buried Isaac and Rebekah, his wife, and there I buried Leah:


for his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field, as a possession for a burial site, from Ephron the Hittite, near Mamre.


Now David was old and full of days; and he made Solomon his son king over Israel.


He died at a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor; and Solomon his son reigned in his place.


“Therefore, I will gather you to your ancestors, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes won’t see all the evil that I will bring on this place and on its inhabitants.”’” They brought back this message to the king.


It makes a path shine behind it. One would think the deep had white hair.


So Job died, being old and full of days.


You will come to your grave in a full age, like a shock of grain comes in its season.


Watch the blameless, and see the upright, for there is a future for the person of peace.

When David had served the purpose of God in his own generation, he fell asleep, was laid with his fathers, and experienced decay.


YHWH said to Moses, “Look, you are about sleep with your fathers. This people will rise up and play the prostitute after the strange gods of the land where they go to be among them, and will forsake me and break my covenant which I have made with them.


After all that generation were gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who didn’t know YHWH, nor the work which he had done for Israel.
