After these things, God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”


However, concerning the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him to test him, that he might know all that was in his heart.


When he was in distress, he begged YHWH his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.


His prayer also, and how God listened to his request, and all his sin and his trespass, and the places in which he built high places and set up the Asherah poles and the engraved images before he humbled himself: are written in the history of Hozai.


yet you in your manifold mercies didn’t forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud didn’t depart from over them by day, to lead them in the way; neither did the pillar of fire by night, to show them light, and the way in which they should go.


that he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.


Praise YHWH, my soul, and don’t forget all ʜɪꜱ benefits,


Our ancestors didn’t appreciate your miraculous works in Egypt. They didn’t remember the multitude of your lovingkindnesses, Instead the rebelled at the sea, the Red Sea.


Hᴇ led ʜɪꜱ people through the wilderness, for ʜɪꜱ lovingkindness endures forever.


I will remember the deeds of YHWH; for I will remember your wonders of old.


You called in distress, and I delivered you. I answered you from a thundercloud. I tested you at the waters of Meribah.” Selah.


Then he cried to YHWH. YHWH showed him a tree, and he threw it into the waters, and the waters were made sweet. There he made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there he tested them.


The children of Israel ate the manna for forty years until they came to an inhabited land. They ate the manna until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.


Then YHWH said to Moses, “Look! I am going to rain bread from the heavens for y’all. The people are to go out and gather a day’s portion every day. This way I will test them, as to whether they will walk in my law or not.


Moses said to the people, “Y’all must not be afraid, for God has come to test y’all, that ʜɪꜱ fear may be with y’all, so that y’all won’t sin.”


The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, but YHWH tests the hearts.


The loftiness of humanity will be bowed down, and the human arrogance will be brought low; and YHWH alone will be exalted in that day.


They didn’t say, ‘Where is YHWH who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought and of the shadow of death, through a land that no one passed through, and where no man lived?’


I am YHWH y’all’s God. Y’all are to walk in my statutes, keep my ordinances, and do them.


Also I brought y’all up out of the land of Egypt and led y’all forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.


Y’all’s children will be wanderers in the wilderness for forty years, and they will bear the penalty of y’all’s prostitution until y’all’s corpses are consumed in the wilderness.


I tell y’all, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other. For everyone who exalts themself will be humbled, but the one who humbles themself will be exalted.”


and he didn’t need anyone to testify about humanity; for he himself knew what was in each human.


In the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, Moses spoke to the children of Israel according to all that YHWH had given him in commandment to them,


who went before y’all on the journey to seek out a place for y’all to setup camp. Y’all saw ʜɪᴍ by fire at night and in the cloud by day, to show the way y’all should go.


you must not listen to the words of that prophet, or to that dreamer of dreams. For YHWH your* God is testing y’all to learn whether y’all love YHWH your* God with your* whole heart and with your* whole soul.


For YHWH your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has known your walking through this great wilderness. These forty years, YHWH your God has been with you. You have lacked nothing.


I have led y’all forty years in the wilderness. Y’all’s clothes have not grown old on y’all, and your sandal has not grown old on your foot.


Remember the days of old. Y’all consider the years of many generations. Ask your father, and he will show you, your elders, and they will tell you.


you are not to be afraid of them. Instead, you must remember-remember what YHWH your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt:


and fed you in the wilderness with manna, that your ancestors did not know to might humble you and test you and to do you good for you in the end.


knowing that the testing of y’all’s faith produces perseverance.


Humble yourselves* in the presence of the Lord, and ʜᴇ will exalt y’all.


But ʜᴇ gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”


that the proof of y’all’s faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes, even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.


I will kill her children with death, and all the churches will know that I am the one who searches the minds and hearts. I will give to each one of y’all according to y’all’s works.


so that by them I may test Israel, to see if they will keep YHWH’s way to walk therein, as their fathers kept it, or not.”


They were left to test Israel by them, to know whether they would listen to YHWH’s commandments, which he commanded their fathers by Moses.
