They spread a net for my feet – I was bowed down in distress. They dug a pit in my path – but they have fallen into it themselves.


Praise be to his glorious name for ever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen.


But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.


Lift up your eyes and look around; all your children gather and come to you. As surely as I live,’ declares the Lord, ‘you will wear them all as ornaments; you will put them on, like a bride.


And they were calling to one another: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.’


‘As surely as I live,’ declares the Lord, ‘even if you, Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, were a signet ring on my right hand, I would still pull you off.

Therefore as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your vile images and detestable practices, I myself will shave you; I will not look on you with pity or spare you.


For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.


Therefore, as surely as I live,’ declares the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, ‘surely Moab will become like Sodom, the Ammonites like Gomorrah – a place of weeds and salt pits, a wasteland for ever. The remnant of my people will plunder them; the survivors of my nation will inherit their land.’


So tell them, “As surely as I live, declares the Lord, I will do to you the very thing I heard you say:


your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.


I lift my hand to heaven and solemnly swear: as surely as I live for ever,
