Once you spoke in a vision, to your faithful people you said: ‘I have bestowed strength on a warrior; I have raised up a young man from among the people.


And I will appoint him to be my firstborn, the most exalted of the kings of the earth.


By me kings reign and rulers issue decrees that are just;


‘All things have been committed to me by my Father. No-one knows the Son except the Father, and no-one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.


‘Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.’


‘You have said so,’ Jesus replied. ‘But I say to all of you: from now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.’


‘All things have been committed to me by my Father. No-one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no-one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.’


Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God;


For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him.


The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all.


The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands.


You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.


‘Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.’


For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.


For he ‘has put everything under his feet’. Now when it says that ‘everything’ has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ.


and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.


but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.


and put everything under their feet.’ In putting everything under them, God left nothing that is not subject to them. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to them.


who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand – with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.


The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: ‘The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.’


They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings – and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.’


On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: King of kings and lord of lords.
