So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth.


The upright see and rejoice, but all the wicked shut their mouths.


‘How can you say, “I am not defiled; I have not run after the Baals”? See how you behaved in the valley; consider what you have done. You are a swift she-camel running here and there,


‘As a thief is disgraced when he is caught, so the people of Israel are disgraced – they, their kings and their officials, their priests and their prophets.


‘But he answered one of them, “I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius?


Jesus replied, ‘Do what you came for, friend.’ Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him.


For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.


Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.


Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.


You may be sure that such people are warped and sinful; they are self-condemned.


He will guard the feet of his faithful servants, but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness. ‘It is not by strength that one prevails;
