We are the peaceful and faithful in Israel. You are trying to destroy a city that is a mother in Israel. Why do you want to swallow up the Lord’s inheritance?’


The next day Moses said to the people, ‘You have committed a great sin. But now I will go up to the Lord; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin.’


You are to lay your hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted on your behalf to make atonement for you.


The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him, ‘What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?’


In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.


If one person sins against another, God may mediate for the offender; but if anyone sins against the Lord, who will intercede for them?’ His sons, however, did not listen to their father’s rebuke, for it was the Lord’s will to put them to death.


Now let my lord the king listen to his servant’s words. If the Lord has incited you against me, then may he accept an offering. If, however, people have done it, may they be cursed before the Lord! They have driven me today from my share in the Lord’s inheritance and have said, “Go, serve other gods.”
