Am not I she that answer truth in Israel? And thou seekest to destroy the city, and to overthrow a mother in Israel? Why wilt thou throw down the inheritance of the Lord?


And when the next day was come, Moses spoke to the people: You have sinned a very great sin. I will go up to the Lord, if by any means I may be able to entreat him for your crime.


And he shall put his hand upon the head of the victim: and it shall be acceptable, and help to its expiation.


And they said to him: What shall we do to thee, that the sea may be calm to us? for the sea flowed and swelled.


And almost all things, according to the law, are cleansed with blood: and without shedding of blood there is no remission.


If one man shall sin against another, God may be appeased in his behalf: but if a man shall sin against the Lord, who shall pray for him? And they hearkened not to the voice of their father, because the Lord would slay them.


Now therefore hear, I pray thee, my lord the king, the words of thy servant: If the Lord stir thee up against me, let him accept of sacrifice. But if the sons of men, they are cursed in the sight of the Lord, who have cast me out this day, that I should not dwell in the inheritance of the Lord, saying: Go, serve strange gods.
