Then Herod, seeing he was deluded by the magi, was very angry, and having sent, destroyed all the children which in Bethlehem, and in all its bounds, from two years and under, according to the time he examined thoroughly of the magi.


And Herod having died, behold a messenger of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying,


And Herod the king having heard, was stirred up, and all Jerusalem with him.


And they said to him, In Bethlehem of Judea: for thus has it been written by the prophet:


Then Herod having secretly called for the magi, searched thoroughly from them the time of the star appearing.


There was in the days of Herod, king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the daily order of Abia: and his wife the daughter of Aaron, and her name Elizabeth.


For this day a Saviour was born to you, who is Christ the Lord, in the city of David.


And it was when the messenger departed from them into heaven, and the men, the shepherds, said to one another, Let us pass through now to Bethlehem, and see this word done,which the Lord made known to us.


Said not the writing, That of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the town where David was, Christ comes?


And there will be a youth from the House of Bread, of Judah, from the families of Judah, and he a Levite, and he sojourned there.
