“And you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father. Serve God with a pure heart. Be happy in your heart (mind) to serve God. Why? Because the Lord knows what is in every person’s heart (mind). The Lord understands everything you think. If you go to the Lord for help, you will get an answer. But if you turn away from the Lord, he will leave you forever.


Lord, you are my strong Master.\par You are my Savior.\par You are like a helmet protecting my head in battle.\par


The Lord is my strength.\par He is my shield.\par I trusted him.\par And he helped me.\par I am very happy!\par And I sing songs of praise to him.\par


\{My enemies have put a trap in front of me.\}\par Save me from their trap.\par You are my place of safety.\par


My enemy constantly insults me\par and strikes a deadly blow\par when he asks me,\par “Where is your God?\par \{Has he come to save you yet?\}”\par


I speak to God, my Rock, {\cf2\super [263]} I say,\par “Lord, why did you forget me?\par Why must I suffer such sadness\par because of the cruelty of my enemy?”\par


But, God, you left us.\par You embarrassed us.\par You did not come with us into battle.\par


Don’t throw me away just because I am old.Don’t leave me as I lose my strength.


I wonder,\par “Has our Master left us forever?\par Will he ever want us again?\par


Since I was young, I was weak and sick.\par I have suffered your anger,\par I am helpless.\par


The Lord will not leave his people.\par He will not leave them without help.\par


The Lord is my strength. He saves me, and I sing songs of praise to him. [96] The Lord is my God, and I praise him. The Lord is the God of my ancestors, [97] and I honor him.


But people that trust the Lord\par become strong again\par like eagles that grow new feathers.\par These people run without becoming weak.\par These people walk without becoming tired.\par


People will say, ‘Goodness and power come only from the Lord.’”


The Lord will make his people strong. And they will live for him and his name. The Lord said these things.


To end my letter I tell you, be strong in the Lord and in his great power.


I can do all things through Christ, because he gives me strength.
