So David and his men went on {their way} down the road. But Shimei kept following David. Shimei walked on the other side of the road by the side of the hill. Shimei kept saying bad things to David on his way. Shimei also threw stones and dirt at David.


The commander’s master, the king of Assyria, has sent him to say bad things about the living God. Maybe the Lord your God will hear all those things. Maybe the Lord will punish the enemy! So pray for the people that are still left alive.’”


\{Lord,\} surely you see the cruel and evil things\par that bad people do.\par Look at those things,\par and do something!\par People with many troubles\par come to you for help.\par Lord, you are the One who helps orphans. {\cf2\super [56]} \par \{So help them!\}\par


Those bad people curse me,\par but you can bless me, Lord.\par They attacked me, so defeat them.\par Then I, your servant, will be happy.\par


Lord, remember how David suffered.\par


Lord, look at my trials and troubles.\par Forgive me for all the sins I have done.\par

Who knows, maybe the Lord\par will change his mind.\par And maybe he will leave behind\par a blessing for you.\par Then you can give grain and drink offerings\par to the Lord your God.\par


We know that in everything God works for the good of those people that love him. These are the people God called (chose), because that was his plan.


But the Lord your God refused to listen to Balaam. The Lord changed the curse into a blessing for you. Why? Because the Lord your God loves you.


You must never try to make peace with the Ammonite or Moabite people. As long as you live, don’t be friendly to them.


And God will give peace to you people who are troubled. And he will give peace to us. God will give us this help when the Lord Jesus is shown to us. Jesus will come from heaven with his powerful angels.


Our fathers on earth punished us for a short time. They punished us the way they thought was best. But God punishes us to help us, so that we can become holy {\cf2\super [159]} like him.


She made a special promise to God. She said, “Lord All-Powerful, see how very sad I am. Remember me! Don’t forget me. If you will give me a son, then I will give him to you. He will be a Nazirite: He will not drink wine or strong drink. [9] And no one will ever cut his hair. [10] ”
