Then the king went to the Lord’s temple with all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, as well as the priests and the prophets #– #all the people from the youngest to the oldest. He read in their hearing all the words of the book of the covenant  that had been found in the Lord’s temple.


The letter you sent us has been translated and read  , in my presence.


Then all the people began to eat and drink, send portions, and have a great celebration,  because they had understood the words that were explained to them.


Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, and Pelaiah,  who were Levites,  , explained the law  to the people as they stood in their places.


Nehemiah the governor,  Ezra the priest and scribe,  and the Levites who were instructing the people said to all of them, ‘This day  is holy to the Lord your God. Do not mourn or weep.’  For all the people were weeping as they heard the words of the law.


While they stood in their places,  they read from the book of the law of the Lord their God for a quarter of the day and spent another quarter of the day  in confession  and worship of the Lord their God.


When the people enter, the prince will enter with them, and when they leave, he will leave.


The Lord answered me: Write down this vision; clearly inscribe it on tablets so that one may easily read it.


Then beginning with Moses  and all the Prophets,  he interpreted for them the things concerning himself in all the Scriptures.


They said to each other, ‘Weren’t our hearts burning within us while he was talking with us on the road and explaining the Scriptures  to us? ’


Then he opened their minds  to understand  the Scriptures.


After arranging a day with him, many came to him at his lodging. From dawn to dusk he expounded and testified about the kingdom of God. He tried to persuade them about Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets.
