There was a small city with few men in it. A great king came against it, surrounded it, and built large siege works against it.


‘Therefore, this is what the Lord says about the king of Assyria: He will not enter this city, shoot an arrow here, come before it with a shield, or build up a siege ramp against it.


He will slaughter your villages on the mainland with the sword. He will set up siege works,  build a ramp, and raise a wall of shields against you.


Then lay siege against it:  Construct a siege wall, build a ramp, pitch military camps, and place battering rams against it on all sides.


The king   was enraged, and he sent out his troops, killed those murderers, and burned down their city.


saying, ‘If you knew   this day what would bring peace #– #but now it is hidden   from your eyes.
