There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it.


Therefore thus saith Jehovah concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come unto this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither shall he come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it.


He shall slay with the sword thy daughters in the field; and he shall make forts against thee, and cast up a mound against thee, and raise up the buckler against thee.


and lay siege against it, and build forts against it, and cast up a mound against it; set camps also against it, and plant battering rams against it round about.


But the king was wroth; and he sent his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.


saying, If thou hadst known in this day, even thou, the things which belong unto peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
