A little city, and few men in it: there came against it a great king, and invested it, and built bulwarks round about it, and the siege was perfect.


Wherefore thus saith the Lord concerning the king of the Assyrians: He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow into it, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a trench about it.


Thy daughters that are in the field he shall kill with the sword: and he shall compass thee with forts and shall cast up a mount round about: and he shall lift up the buckler against thee.


And lay siege against it and build forts and cast up a mount and set a camp against it and place battering rams round about it.


But when the king had heard of it, he was angry, and sending his armies, he destroyed those murderers, and burnt their city.


If thou also hadst known, and that in this thy day, the things that are to thy peace; but now they are hidden from thy eyes.
