Why? Because I don’t love you? God knows I do!

I will most gladly spend and be spent for you.  , If I love you more, am I to be loved less?

This is why I am writing these things while absent, so that when I am there I may not have to deal harshly with you, in keeping with the authority the Lord gave me for building up  and not for tearing down.

You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone.

So even though I wrote to you, it was not because of the one who did wrong, or because of the one who was wronged, but in order that your devotion to us might be made plain to you in the sight of God.

Indeed, it is right  for me to think this way about all of you, because I have you in my heart,  and you are all partners with me in grace, both in my imprisonment  and in the defence  and confirmation of the gospel.

We cared so much for you that we were pleased to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.
