² H6965Then arose[H8799] H3458IshmaelH1121the sonH5418of NethaniahH6235, and the tenH582menH5221that were with him, and smote[H8686] H1436GedaliahH1121the sonH296of AhikamH1121the sonH8227of ShaphanH2719with the swordH4191, and slew[H8686] H4428him, whom the kingH894of BabylonH6485had made governor[H8689] H776over the land.

³ H3458IshmaelH5221also slew[H8689] H3064all the JewsH1436that were with him, even with GedaliahH4709, at MizpahH3778, and the ChaldeansH4672that were found[H8738] H582there, and the menH4421of war.

⁴ H8145And it came to pass the secondH3117dayH4191after he had slain[H8687] H1436GedaliahH376, and no manH3045knew[H8804]  it,

⁵ H935That there came[H8799] H582certainH7927from ShechemH7887, from ShilohH8111, and from SamariaH8084, even fourscoreH376menH2206, having their beardsH1548shaven[H8794] H899, and their clothesH7167rent[H8803] H1413, and having cut[H8706] H4503themselves, with offeringsH3828and incenseH3027in their handH935, to bring[H8687] H1004them to the houseH3068of the LORD.

⁶ H3458And IshmaelH1121the sonH5418of NethaniahH3318went forth[H8799] H4709from MizpahH7125to meet[H8800] H1058them, weeping[H8802] H1980all along[H8800] H1980as he went[H8802] H6298: and it came to pass, as he met[H8800] H559them, he said[H8799] H935unto them, Come[H8798] H1436to GedaliahH1121the sonH296of Ahikam.

⁷ H935And it was so, when they came[H8800] H8432into the midstH5892of the cityH3458, that IshmaelH1121the sonH5418of NethaniahH7819slew[H8799] H8432them, and cast them into the midstH953of the pitH582, he, and the men that were with him.

¹⁰ H3458Then IshmaelH7617carried away captive[H8799] H7611all the residueH5971of the peopleH4709that were in MizpahH4428, even the king'sH1323daughtersH5971, and all the peopleH7604that remained[H8737] H4709in MizpahH5018, whom NebuzaradanH7227the captainH2876of the guardH6485had committed[H8689] H1436to GedaliahH1121the sonH296of AhikamH3458: and IshmaelH1121the sonH5418of NethaniahH7617carried them away captive[H8799] H3212, and departed[H8799] H5674to go over[H8800] H1121to the AmmonitesH5983 .

¹¹ H3110But when JohananH1121the sonH7143of KareahH8269, and all the captainsH2428of the forcesH8085that were with him, heard[H8799] H7451of all the evilH3458that IshmaelH1121the sonH5418of NethaniahH6213had done[H8804] ,

¹² H3947Then they took[H8799] H582all the menH3212, and went[H8799] H3898to fight[H8736] H3458with IshmaelH1121the sonH5418of NethaniahH4672, and found[H8799] H7227him by the greatH4325watersH1391that are in Gibeon.

¹³ H5971Now it came to pass, that when all the peopleH3458which were with IshmaelH7200saw[H8800] H3110JohananH1121the sonH7143of KareahH8269, and all the captainsH2428of the forcesH8055that were with him, then they were glad[H8799] .

¹⁴ H5971So all the peopleH3458that IshmaelH7617had carried away captive[H8804] H4709from MizpahH5437cast about[H8799] H7725and returned[H8799] H3212, and went[H8799] H3110unto JohananH1121the sonH7143of Kareah.

¹⁵ H3458But IshmaelH1121the sonH5418of NethaniahH4422escaped[H8738] H6440fromH3110JohananH8083with eightH582menH3212, and went[H8799] H1121to the AmmonitesH5983 .

¹⁶ H3947Then took[H8799] H3110JohananH1121the sonH7143of KareahH8269, and all the captainsH2428of the forcesH7611that were with him, all the remnantH5971of the peopleH7725whom he had recovered[H8689] H3458from IshmaelH1121the sonH5418of NethaniahH4709, from MizpahH310, afterH5221that he had slain[H8689] H1436GedaliahH1121the sonH296of AhikamH1397, even mightyH582menH4421of warH802, and the womenH2945, and the childrenH5631, and the eunuchsH7725, whom he had brought again[H8689] H1391from Gibeon:
