³ H582And his menH1732that were with him did DavidH5927bring up[H8689] H376, every manH1004with his householdH3427: and they dwelt[H8799] H5892in the citiesH2275of Hebron.

⁶ H3068And now the LORDH6213shew[H8799] H2617kindnessH571and truthH6213unto you: and I also will requite[H8799] H2896you this kindnessH6213, because ye have done[H8804] H1697this thing.

⁷ H3027Therefore now let your handsH2388be strengthened[H8799] H1121, and be ye valiantH2428 H113: for your masterH7586SaulH4191is dead[H8804] H1004, and also the houseH3063of JudahH4886have anointed[H8804] H4428me king over them.

¹⁸ H7969And there were threeH1121sonsH6870of ZeruiahH3097there, JoabH52, and AbishaiH6214, and AsahelH6214: and AsahelH7031was as lightH7272of footH259as aH7704wildH6643roe.

¹⁹ H6214And AsahelH7291pursued[H8799] H310afterH74AbnerH3212; and in going[H8800] H5186he turned[H8804] H3225not to the right handH8040nor to the leftH310from followingH74Abner.

²⁰ H74Then AbnerH6437looked[H8799] H310behindH559him, and said[H8799] H6214, Art thou AsahelH559? And he answered[H8799] , I am .

²¹ H74And AbnerH559said[H8799] H5186to him, Turn thee aside[H8798] H3225to thy right handH8040or to thy leftH270, and lay thee hold[H8798] H259on oneH5288of the young menH3947, and take[H8798] H2488thee his armourH6214. But AsahelH14would[H8804] H5493not turn aside[H8800] H310from following of him.

²² H74And AbnerH559said[H8800] H3254again[H8686] H6214to AsahelH5493, Turn thee aside[H8798] H310from followingH5221me: wherefore should I smite[H8686] H776thee to the groundH5375? how then should I hold up[H8799] H6440my faceH3097to JoabH251thy brother?

²⁶ H74Then AbnerH7121called[H8799] H3097to JoabH559, and said[H8799] H2719, Shall the swordH398devour[H8799] H5331for everH3045? knowest[H8804] H4751thou not that it will be bitternessH314in the latter endH559? how long shall it be then, ere thou bid[H8799] H5971the peopleH7725return[H8800] H310from followingH251their brethren?

²⁷ H3097And JoabH559said[H8799] H430, As GodH2416livethH3884, unlessH1696thou hadst spoken[H8765] H1242, surely then in the morningH5971the peopleH5927had gone up[H8738] H376every oneH310from followingH251his brother.

³² H5375And they took up[H8799] H6214AsahelH6912, and buried[H8799] H6913him in the sepulchreH1of his fatherH1035, which was in BethlehemH3097. And JoabH582and his menH3212went[H8799] H3915all nightH2275, and they came to HebronH215at break of day[H8735] .
